I think honor is a matter of fact, whereas dignity is a matter of action. That is to say, to act with dignity, one finds honor. But, you can’t really act with honor; it’s something you either possess or don’t. And, dignity is either a choice you make or don’t.
It’s similar to dichotomies of freedom and liberty, or grace and mercy, or, in physics, position and momentum. There is a means and there is an end.
I think the safest conclusion to be made is that you can’t know really know whether or not you have honor—or freedom, or grace, or any state of being for that matter—but you can always find dignity. You can always find the means to be where you want to be.
