Poesy’s slave risks his soul when he knows

Poesy’s slave risks his soul when he knows
that the time passes and waits for no one;
his innocence is preserved in pages,
perfect pages—but for your love’s full price:
give it all up—your heart, your mind and body—
such duty done is a moment’s long love,
but give your good word good and holdfast—
o only then—you have it all, always:
in love and light, enlighten your sweet heart,
your fate and fiery state still unfolding,
half faith, half fear, down, and now, up,
but, like a seed, it fruits, once, and for all;

love’s a loop, you’ll count each of the turns through,
so say it’s just one just when it burns true—
