a poet’s word(s) when honest concerns all

a poet’s word(s) when honest concerns all,
for it is the very evidence by which
one may come to see the heart and the soul—
to whom goes the honor but to the rich,
those collecting, connecting eyes to truth,
so as to delight in flight and fight
for only that which proves the use of youth:
what we near forget of a sound word: light—
sweet singularity made, singingly,
with every breath’s breadth breaching vision,
offering—dimension—more, ringingly;
love, above, bringing, striking, precision—

but that this be cause not reason for sight,
would be to say that with season comes might.
