don’t you see—the safety you must forsake

don’t you see—the safety you must forsake
when freedom is your greatest goal valued—
I could never find a way to tell her,
I could never seem to reach her enough,
I could never see an end to beauty
when she was nearer to me than the sky—
won’t you look—my air is the sky so there;
you take what’s yours with sight’s might so golden—
with eyes so bright and quick forward-facing,
a soul so deep the oceans follow you
and a face so pure by honest knowledge,
your loss is light wherever (yet) you  go.

recognize the pattern, all give off light—
may what you observe grant you honest might—
