if ever I’m heard

the butterfly’s low touchdown was what woke me,
as I fluttered my hopes off, on through its skies—

and I spit in the wind and ask for forgiveness,
but not in that order, says my honest heart’s eyes;

and stop time to chase the dawn backwards!
in such precious loops—love—do we compromise.
