:حكى ابن الأَعرابي: أَنا حَبِيبُكم أَي مُحِبُّكم؛ وأَنشد:
ورُبَّ حَبِيبٍ ناصِحٍ غَيْرِ مَحْبُوبِ
Ibn. al-a’rabiyy would say: I am “your love”, in other words, your “loving one”, and claimed:
Were it that a wise love be other than loved.
(What is meant is that the word for “your love” here, in the Arabic language, predominantly follows the linguistic measure of “actor”, or subject, even though the word may be used to refer to an object or the “acted upon”.)
