the Lark and his love

if you were in love with me, she said
you would listen to what I say;
while fluttering up above,
he’s wondering why she landed
and when she’ll look up.

grazing greenery in the cool night breeze,
shedding their morning hue,
whisper the winds’ secrets
but never tell him where you are—
so he head straight into the sun.
