people’s poetry

shining like the blinding sun
eclipses her moons in their zeal

im impenetrable, impervious,
as shields of damascus’ steel

whatever your devices—from within
or from without—i watch them as they reel—

i do not need this or anything;
desire’s depth is all i feel

in only truth do we trust alone
or we’re just fleshed out bone:

from within my chambered reverie
hear my tempered cry reveal

the secret songs of the winds,
what all longing breaths conceal;

with patience’s sword brazen—
and my reach extended—i make you my appeal,

and like days the nights kiss goodbye,
for a time, each our lips do i seal
