to the core

if they really called it gravity because an apple fell through the sky

then that’s at least two times it brought to a man

the beauty of truth and truth of beauty:

once when it kissed the earth and met that scientific mind

and again when it touched your lips there, sitting in the sunshine,

the sweetest fruit on god’s earth, ripe for the taking,

taking her place in my heart, grateful for her bounty—

and because of her i always eat (all the way to) the core

wherever the seeds may go
